   Implant Treatment by Dr. Friz
Dental implants are a customized and appealing solution to replace missing or extracted teeth. They are better than other alternatives such as bridges because no additional teeth need to be altered to place the new tooth.  Dr. Friz has been placing and restoring dental implants since 1987.  For more information on the options of implant or bridge visit this informative video:

The entire process of replacing a missing tooth with an implant is performed over the course of a few months. The first part of the process is to place the implant itself, where a titanium root form screw is placed into the jaw bone. An incision is made in the gum tissue so that the implant can be inserted. Multiple implants can be placed at the same time if necessary. After the implants are placed the gum tissue is sutured closed.

The implant must be allowed to heal for about 3-6 months, and during this time the jaw bone will form around the implant in a process called osseointegration. During this healing time you can have temporary teeth made so that you can eat and speak normally and maintain a proper aesthetic appearance for your smile.

After the healing phase, it is time to place a custom restoration on the implant. A crown, bridge or overdenture are all different options for custom restorations on an implant. The restoring phase requires a simple procedure to open the gum tissue to get access to the top of the implant. Once that has been achieved, impressions are taken to make the custom restoration. The custom restoration is made in a dental lab and requires 4-8 weeks to complete. The custom restoration is then attached to the implant and will allow you to have function and a great smile!
